It has little in common with the current T-90 and other older Soviet tanks. Actually it it the first Russian truly new production tank since the T-72, that was adopted back in 1973. Design of the Armata focuses on heavier armor and crew survivability. Exact technical specifications of the new Armata MBT remain classified. The new tank is much bigger, than the T-90. It is nearly as big as the German Leopard 2A7. This tank has a completely unmanned turret. Even though the concept of unmanned tank turret is not new, the Armata is the world's first production tank with unmanned turret. This main battle tank is operated by a crew of 3 men, including commander, gunner and driver. It is in line with Russian tank-building concept, that the tank should be operated by a smaller crew in order to reduce its dimensions and weight and improve protection. Armata lacks gunner, as the gun is loaded by an autoloader. It is worth noting that most Western MBTs have a crew of 4. The Armata might be one of the most protected MBTs in the world. It has newly-developed base armor, made of steel, ceramics and composite materials. Also Armata has a new Malakhit add-on explosive reactive armor that is claimed to be of new generation. As usual this MBT is fitted with NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems. It has been reported that Armata will be fitted with new Afganit active protection system. However in 2018 it appeared that there are setbacks with development of the Afghanit. By 2018 prototypes of this system were not completed and were not ready for testing. The tank has a new countermeasures system that reduces the chance of being hit by enemy ATGW with semi-automatic guidance. This new Russian tank uses smoke grenade dischargers of new type. The tank uses electrical armament stabilization and turret traverse systems. These are more reliable and safer for the crew than older hydraulic systems. Furthermore these provide a quick turn of the gun in proper direction. All crew members are seated in a well protected armored cell. It is separated from automatic loader and ammunition. The tank has improved resistance to damage. It can operate even with penetrated armor, as far as the crew cell is intact. It is the first production MBT with such crew layout. The tank is armed with a 2A82 (or 2A82-1M) 125 mm smoothbore gun. This new gun has longer range and is more accurate than the old 2A46M gun of the T-90 MBT. The gun is completed with an autoloader. It was planned that the tank will be capable of firing programmable ammunition. The Armata is capable of firing gun-launched anti-tank guided missiles in the same manner as ordinary projectiles. These missiles have a range of about 5 km and can also target low-flying helicopters. A total of 40 rounds are carried for this tank, and 32 of these rounds are ready-to-use. There is a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun. Also there is a remotely-controlled weapon station, armed with another 7.62 mm machine gun. This weapon has a remote reload capability. This weapon station also functions an commander's independent sight that gives the tank a hunter-killer capability. The Armata MBT is fitted with new fire control system. It is also equipped with a battlefield management system. Commander's and gunner's workstations are identical. Initially it has been reported that this new main battle tank is powered by an A-82-2 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 1,200 hp. It is a new-generation engine that is much more compact than the previous Russian tank engines. However in 2019 information emerged that the tank packs a more powerful A-85-3 engine, developing 1,500 hp. Interestingly this rating is for a peak power which would be used only during wartime and at a cost of extremely short service life. Normally this engine develops 1,350 hp. The X-shaped engine is located at the rear. It is completed in one block with an automatic transmission. Though in 2020 reports emerged that the transmission of this new Russian tank is actually manual. The whole powerpack was designed to be easily removed and replaced in field condition. Western tanks had this feature since the Cold War era. However Armata is the first Soviet/Russian tank to have engine and transmission built into one module. There is auxiliary power unit, which powers all system when the engine is turned off. Furthermore it ensures the smooth start of the engine at low temperatures. However by 2019 Chelyabinsk Traktor Plant, producer of the Armata's engine, was close to a state of bankrupcy. The maiden flight of Bayraktar Kizilelma, an unmanned military aircraft developed by Turkish defense company Baykar, took place on Wednesday in the northwest of the country, the chairman and chief technologist of the firm said. "We could not keep it anymore on the ground. It flew," Selcuk Bayraktar said on Twitter, posting a video of the drone taking off. The first full-fledged flights are scheduled for early 2023. The drone is capable of flying at a speed of about 630 kilometers per hour (390 miles per hour) at an altitude of up to 11 kilometers (7 miles) with a flight time of about five hours. The jet-powered Bayraktar kızılelma was first unveiled in August in the Turkish city of Samsun, as part of the Teknofest Karadeniz aerospace festival. The aircraft will be able to take off from ships with a short runway, including the Turkish navy's flagship, TCG Anadolu. The turkey kizilelma drone Fighter UAV will be a force to be reckoned with, specifically given its aggressive maneuvering capability and stealthiness against radar. Congratulations " Speaking on Unmanned Marine Vehicles at the International Maritime Security and Defense Conference held in Hamburg, Germany on 7-9 September 2022, ARES Shipyard General Manager Utku Alanç gave place to the new surface warfare configuration for the ULAQ Armed Unmanned Naval Vehicle. In the configuration that includes anti-ship/cruise missiles and RCWS, the ROKETSAN ÇAKIR cruise missile appears as a strong candidate. A concept previously existed for a surface configuration of the ULAQ family that could be equipped with anti-ship missiles of higher size and tonnage. The new design draws attention with its lower silhouette than the first shared design for the surface warfare configuration. There is also a parallelism with the FAMB series gunboats of ARES Shipyard in terms of the placement of weapon systems. Given the size of the launcher, the new configuration is likely to have a length of close to 24 m. The low silhouette new design can be considered as a new option for attrition attacks due to the difficulty of detection and being unmanned. In the future, it is planned to develop versions of the ULAQ Armed Unmanned Naval Vehicle that can perform tasks such as DSH (Submarine Defense Warfare), Mine Hunting, Electronic Warfare, Intelligence-Observation-Reconnaissance. Fire tests of the port defense configuration, equipped with the prototype equipped with the ROKETSAN YALMAN gun turret and the KORALP 12.7mm RCWS, which share the same hull design, have been conducted so far.

The potentially game-changing Kizilelma unmanned fighter aircraft has taken to the skies for its inaugural flight on Dec. 14. Turkish latest drone or uncrewed fighter jet will take the country's defense industry to new heights. “Our 20-year dream in our national drone adventure has come true today,” said Baykar’s chief technical official Selcuk Bayraktar. Speaking to Türkiye Innovation Week, organized by the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) in Istanbul, Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar said the National Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle System (MIUS), named Kızılelma or the Red Apple, with low detectability and hypersonic speed, is a very critical and strategic project. The fast drone fighter jet Kızılelma represents a significant expansion of capabilities for slow-moving reconnaissance and missile-carrying drones. It will be capable of taking off from and landing on short-runway aircraft carriers, Amphibious assault ship, such as TCG Anadolu, without any need for a catapult system. the autonomously maneuvering Kızılelma will be capable of operating in tandem with piloted aircraft and may carry air-to-air missiles. It was the first time this had been done to inspect the cables to the Modular Offshore Grid (MOG), Elia's offshore power outlet in the Belgian North Sea. US Navy christened a new autonomous ship in the fleet: the unmanned surface vessel (USV) named Mariner. A ceremony at the U.S. Naval Academy was organized to mark this milestone. It is the latest so-called “ghost ship” to join the US Navy at sea. The Mariner is the third of four Overlord USVs the US Navy ordered, the last one is still under construction. Viewers may note that the aim of the Overlord program is to convert commercial fast supply vessels which are used to service and resupply oil and gas platforms at sea into an experimental unmanned ship that could navigate the ocean with or without human help. Interestingly the first two - the Nomad and Ranger, participated this summer in the Rim of the Pacific international training exercise which was one of the biggest deployments of an uncrewed ship to date. US Navy Testing World's Largest Unmanned Attack Submarine. Orca XLUUV (Extra Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicle) unmanned is a modular submersible with a reconfigurable payload compartment 10 meters long and 8 tons of capacity. The vehicle itself has a total length of 26 m. The vehicle is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system with full electric propulsion and with lithium-ion battery packs, with battery charging from diesel generators while running in the surface position. Maximum submarine speed is 8 knots, although typical operating speed is about 3 knots, at which Orca should have a cruising range of up to 6,500 miles with autonomy of several months. The Orca program will initially focus on concept of operations (CONOPS) development and primarily to practice mine-resistant systems. Parimal "PK" Kopardekar is developing a system to safely enable low altitude unmanned aerial system (UAS) operations. The system is referred to as UAS Traffic Management (UTM). The UTM will safely enable a variety of business models and multiple operations in the same airspace. The UTM will provide services such as airspace configuration and geo-fencing, weather and wind integration, demand/capacity imbalance management, and separation management, and contingency management. The UTM system will evolve through four builds, which will be collaboratively tested with partners. The final prototype will be available for persistent daily use of UAS operations beyond line of sight. BIOGRAPHY: Parimal Kopardekar serves as the Manager of the NASA’s Safe Autonomous System Operations (SASO) Project. The goal of the project is to develop autonomy related concepts, technologies, and architectures that will increase efficiency, safety, and capacity of airspace operations. Prior to this, PK managed the NASA NextGen Concepts and Technology Development Project. PK has also initiated many research initiatives including reduced crew operations, net-enabled air traffic management, autonomy for airspace operations, Shadow-Mode Assessment using Realistic Technologies for the National Airspace System (SMART NAS), and low-altitude airspace management system focused on UAS operations. PK holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Industrial Engineering and Bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering.
